About Mrs. Young
I am new at Swartz Creek Middle this year, and am so excited for this wonderful new journey. I am very passionate about teaching and am dedicated to ensuring the success of every one of my students. I have worked with students of all ages and enjoyed them all, but have wanted to teach middle school for a while now.
I graduated from Oakland University in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education, including a major in Language Arts and a minor in Mathematics. I am certified to teach grades K-5, as well as Language Arts and Math in grades 6-8.
During my time in college, I also spent a year substitute teaching in four school districts, so I was able to work with students of all different ages. I particularly enjoyed the middle school classrooms I subbed in, which is how I first became interested in being a middle school teacher, something I hadn't considered before. After graduation, I got a job teaching fourth grade in Saginaw Township. I loved it there and formed many strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. I am thrilled to now be teaching in Swartz Creek, which is much closer to home. I am also excited to finally be in middle school! I look forward to becoming part of this great community.
I believe in fostering a culture of supportive, enthusiastic learners and guiding them on their learning journey, wherever it may take them. I will do everything I can to help all my students excel and have an outstanding year. Go Dragons!
